Chongqing Nankai Middle School (simplified Chinese: 重庆南开中学; traditional Chinese: 重慶南開中學; pinyin: Chóngqìng Nánkāi Zhōngxúe) is one of the best secondary schools in Chongqing, China. It is located in the Chenjiawan are of Shapingba district.

Chongqing Nankai Middle School, founded in 1936 by the famous educator Mr. Zhang Boling, is one of the key middle schools directly under Chongqing Municipal Education committee. In 1953, it was taken over by the municipal government and renamed No.3 Middle School. In 1984, the wife of late Premier Zhou Enlai as well as the vice-chairman of CPPCC, Madam Deng Yinchao inscribed the school name. ?? The school campus covers an area of 362 mus (24 hectares). The present school is well equipped with such facilities as teaching buildings, library, science museum, indoor & outdoor sports stadium, indoor swimming pool, student dorms and Business Street. The school’s library has a collection of over 150 thousand volumes. ?? Chongqing Nankai Middle School has a strong teaching staff of about 200, including 90 senior teachers, 9 Special-graded teachers and 9 research fellows. Over 105 young teachers have received further education of postgraduate level courses. The school participates actively in academic exchanges and has established academic relations with schools in the US and Japan. So far, about 30 teachers have been sent abroad on lecture tours or for advanced studies. Teachers in the school won various national prizes for improvement in teaching method and some teachers were specially rewarded by the state council. There are more than 20 graduates become the deputies of People’s Congress and members of The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in the school. Undoubtedly, the teaching staff in Nankai Middle School plays a leading role in education. 　　The student enrollment is over 6000, about 3000 of them living on campus, every year about 99% of graduates can ascend into college, among which 90% can enter those national key universities. The number of students that were enrolled by Peking University or Tsinghua University has been always in the first place for years. 　　Chongqing Nankai Middle School has been paying great attention to strict management and scientific training. The students are well developed morally, intellectually and physically. Meanwhile, the school also attaches great importance on developing the students’ initiative and creativeness. Numerous celebrated scientists including some thirty academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese academy of Engineering Projects, educationalists, leaders of the CPC and the central government have graduated form this school in the past 6 decades. 　　In order to meet the demand of modern education, Nankai Middle School has made tremendous investment into building its modern education technology center, astronomical observatory, website and distance educational network. Chongqing Nankai Middle School is making all efforts to cultivate more multi-talented students and exert ourselves to become a famous middle school both home and abroad.In the summer of 1936, famous educator Zhang Boling, founder of Nankai High School in Tianjin, came to Chongqing and built a private school, Nanyu Middle School (南渝中学; literally South Chongqing Middle School). After the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, Nankai High School in Tianjin was heavily damaged by Japanese airraids. Many students and teachers fled to Chongqing, and joined Nanyu Middle School. In December 1938, Nanyu Middle School offiically changed its name to Chongqing Private Nankai Middle School (重慶私立南开中学).

Nankai Middle School is one of the most famous secondary schools in China^{[citation needed]}, known for its long history, facility and quality of teaching. The rate of university entry, especially the number of graduates entering Peking University and Tsinghua University (the two most prestigious universities in China) are the highest among schools in Chongqing. The school previously owned significant assets in Nankai Cheng, but these were sold for commercial purposes in 1994. This gave the school a chance to heavily improve its campus environment. Nowadays, Naikai Zhongxue is often regarded as the most beautiful middle school in Chongqing.^{[citation needed]}

As Naikai Middle School is located in the central area of Shapingba, a busy area, it faces significant noise problems. Although the teaching buildings are far from the school gates, outsiders have been known to damage sports facility and threaten the safety of students.^{[citation needed]} There is heavy traffic near the main entrance. Without any signal light, accidents sometimes occur when students attempt to cross the street to enter or leave the school.^{[citation needed]} Moreover, when parents drive their children to (away from) school on Monday (weekend), traffic is frequently interrupted.
