Chong Tae-Hyon

This is a Korean name; the family name is Chong.

Chong Tae-Hyon (born November 10, 1978) is a South Korean baseball player who competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics. He is an underhand pitching starter and relief, who currently plays in a Korean team called SK Wyverns. He was part of the South Korean baseball team which won the bronze medal. He is a right handed pitcher.

As a junior at Kyung Hee University, he was selected as a member of the South Korea national baseball team for 1999 Intercontinental Cup in Sydney, which was made up exclusively of college players.

In his senior year, Tae-Hyon was the only college player on the South Korea national team roster at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, which won the Bronze Medal.

Tae-Hyon first became pro in 2001 when he joined the SK Wyverns with a contract of 20 million won (about 20,000$), when He pitched 18games with 16⅔ Innings Pitched(IP), with an ERA of 5.40, 19 hits allowed, 2 home runs allowed, 20 strikeouts, and 10 Earned Runs Against.

In 2002, Tae-Hyon pitched a better season, when he pitched 24 games and 42 innings pitched with 1 win and no loss, with 37 hits allowed, 3 home runs allowed, 30 strikeouts, and 15 Earned runs against, with a 3.21 ERA.

On November, he was selected for the South Korean national team and led his team to the Silver Medal at the 2002 Intercontinental Cup. He allowed one run in 8 2/3 innings against the Netherlands and two-runs in 7 innings against Cuba in the final. He pitched a 5-1 complete game victory over Dominican Republic.

In 2003, the Wyverns increased his salary to 29 million won. He pitched 37 games and 51 Innings Pitched, with 4 wins and 3 losses, 2 saves, and 8 holds, 33 hits allowed, 4 home runs allowed, 34 strikeouts, 13 Earned Runs Against, with an ERA of 2.29.

In 2004, Tae-Hyon was paid 50 million won, and he pitched 52 games with 69⅓ Innings Pitched, with 2 wins and 3 losses, 2 saves and 16 holds, with 62 hits allowed, 2 home runs allowed, 50 strikeouts, 18 earned runs agains, and an ERA of 2.34.

In 2005, Tae-Hyon got an injury at his arm, and couldn't play most of the season, but he pitched a remarkable season in 2005 with 20 games and 24⅓ innings pitched, with 1win and no loss, 3 saves and 6 holds, with 10 hits allowed, no home runs allowed, 18 strikeouts, 1 Earned Run Against, and a legendary 0 one's digit ERA of 0.37.
