Chola Nadu is a region of Tamil Nadu state in southern India. It encompasses the lower reaches of the Kaveri River and its delta, and is named for the Chola dynasty, who ruled the region from the 1st century to the 13th century, although the Cholas were at times eclipsed by other Tamil dynasties, notably the Pandyas to the south and the Pallavas to the northeast. Thanjavur served as the early Chola capital, until king Rajendra Chola I moved the capital to Gangaikonda Cholapuram in the 11th century.
The region's boundaries are not precise, but generally include the districts of Cuddalore, Pudukkottai, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, and Tiruchirappalli. This is present day Central Tamil Nadu.
