Codename Helsinki Oy Anti-cheat is an Anticheat developed by Finnish company, Codename Helsinki Oy. The program is available for all Codename's game servers, but other server providers or communities can request for it. It is designed to decrease the amounts of cheaters in Valve's online games, especially in Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike:Source. The program has been developed since the 15.9.2006.

[edit] Operation

CHOAC has many ways of stopping cheaters, the main function of this program is to capture screenshots of players game while gaming. It also features checks for A3D and modified game sound files or smoke sprites and other various cheats. CHOAC also has Admins.fi banlist integrated. Automatic checking for updates is also one of CHOAC's attributes.

New version has been under test use since summer 2007 and finally put into production 2007/09/30 16:00 EET by replacing old version totally. This new version is referred as CHOAC v2 as everything was basically rewritten from scratch to obtain security in the code.

Old version (no longer running or supported) used to be bypassed easily by modifying a single function pointer to point to hacker's own hack function. ( To disable cheats during screenshot or simply return black screenshot to CHOAC ).

[edit] Usage

Using CHOAC is very simple, all you have to do is start the program and check that your firewall is properly configured.

New version uses TCP 80 port (Which may have problems with ISP using transparent proxies (untested)). Old version (no longer supported) uses TCP 15000-15011 ports.
