Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film is a Boston-area non-profit organization that teaches audiences to view films actively through discussion, formal and informal education, discourse, film festivals, special screenings and collaboration. Their focus is on international and independent film. Among the Society's many activities, are the Chlotrudis Awards an annual ceremony where the best of the previous year's independent and international film are honored, an annual short film festival, and a weekly film discussion event called the Sunday Eye Opener.

Other activities include collaborations and co-presentations with local film festivals such as the Independent Film Festival of Boston, The Boston Jewish Film Festival, The Provincetown International Film Festival, The Boston Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, The Belmont World Film Festival and more. Members also participate in group trips to the Toronto International Film Festival among others. They are an active force in the Boston and Cambridge film scene, holding many of their events at the venerable Brattle Theatre.

The organization is Boston-based, but membership is national, with members participating from Montreal, Alabama, Colorado, California and more. The Chlotrudis Society engages its out-of-state members through a very active online group where films are reviewed and discussed. All members basic privilege is to vote for the annual awards.
