A local friend, eventually asked Lohier to try producing. Lohier took the stage name name Chimpy, after being teased by his brothers. He later became accustomed to the name but then changed it to Chimpy Bananas. He honed his skills after several months of experimenting with Fruity Loops. As a teenager, Lohier loved music, and decided that producing is that route that he wanted to take.
[edit] Music career
In the beginning, Andrew Lohier (Chimpy) had already established a liking for producing. He produced for rappers from his hometown and is in a rap group called Str8 Problem which was created by local people around him such as his brothers M. Inferno & DXLR8R, and a fellow friend/associate Ace Boogie. They did a lot of street battles but is still trying to create a buzz. Str8 Problem came about in 2002, and Chimpy started producing tracks for them in 2005. Chimpy only used Fruity Loops to create his tracks and gave them to his brother to bring to the studio and record over. He then started showing his skills, and started producing more genres of music such as R&B. Chimpy then started to promote his beats on myspace, which many people was starting to like. Chimpy recently did a track with reggae artist Shugga Cherm called "Save the MusiQ" which is one of the most favorable track on Chimpy Bananas myspace. Also he has currently done a track called "Ya'll Ain't Ready For War Yet" Lyrics by Brooklyn native artist King C. Chimpy has lately been creating a buzz on myspace, receiving messages and friend requests all day long on myspace. On a local street interview on Chimpy Bananas by partner Dyceman, Chimpy was asked how does he do it, and he replied "I dont' know man, ask god". Dyceman has also made a huge part of Chimpy's music career. Dyceman has always put Chimpy into the beatmaking mentality, and had always have him motivation. Dyceman was a local resident, near Chimpy, and is very much appreciated in the work Chimpy has done, and what he has accomplished.
Chimpy had many opportunites to work with more underground artist, but apparently couldn't do it because had no way of transporting himself across the nation.
