[edit] You're on!

Hey, Fan! It's nice to see that you're on Wikipedia. Just a heads up, Steptrip is on a field trip, so you won't be able to talk to him. See ya around. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 00:59, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Is the information accurate? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:08, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

I suppose. Sorry I took so long to respond; I added a Luton, Iowa link to all of the pages. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:12, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

What do you mean? I was just afraid that you had copy-and-pasted the text, no hard feelings or anything... --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:14, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

If you wanna, it's not a requirement, since all Wikipedia content is covered under the GFDL. Good job finding all of the information and stuff! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:19, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Ummm..., ha, ha, ha? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:22, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry. Have to go. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:23, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hi

Hi, im from Luton, England and have been working on the Luton UK page. I have been also adding info etc re othe rplaces called Luton arround the world.

I see you have recently started the Luton, Iowa page. I have added a couple of things to this. Is there any chance of getting some pictures for the Luton Iowa page as i think it would improve it.

GazMan7 14:22, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi

The photo looks good but it needs to have the source added to the picture page otherwise it will be deleted. Wiki needs all pictures to be correctly licenced, ie no breach of copyright. But if its ok on that score i'd say its worth adding.GazMan7 08:46, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Monobook

Sorry, I would help you, but you should really talk to Steptrip about it (he's on right now). --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 01:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

BOO!! Sorry, I just had to do that. So, what was the monobook.js problem?  ~Steptrip 01:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ATAOYP!!

Image:Smily Tomato.jpg Dear Chiefsfan364:
Congratulations! Your page, Pizza have been awarded the A Tomato Approves Of Your Page award! This award proves that you have an ultimately spiffy page, and that tomatoes enjoy your presence. If you would like to put this anywhere else, copy and paste
{{User:Da.Tomato.Dude/ATAOYP}}
Again, congratulations! Keep up the good work! And, remember, try not to eat too many tomatoes.

*sniffle* What a sad, sad, life a tomato must lead...At least the one on your award is happy...(not)(listening)(Fight for Tomato Rights!!)

[edit] I don't mean to be pushy ...

... but please get some more mainspace edits. There was a user who was blocked indefinitely for only working on her userpage, so I implore to use the Anti-vandal tool's live RC feed or Live spellcheck functions to gain more mainspace edits. Trust me, it can be boring, but it will get more interesting.  ~Steptrip 23:06, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Don't worry, I probably spend more time on senseless garbage than you do. As for the article, just remember to reference your sources (I tried to use a Personal Interview as a source once on an article that I created when I was new here, and it was removed even though I was the one with whom I had the interview ... kudos if you understood all of that ;-).  ~Steptrip 00:08, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Cool! I just copyeditted it a while ago, and add the expand tag. Anyone interested in minerals, caves, or anything else of that sort should help expand it! With some luck, you my be able to make it a featured article. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 00:23, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE:Monobook

The anti-vandal tool has a built-in live spellcheck function, if that was what you were asking.  ~Steptrip 01:27, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry that I'm late ... if you're asking me how to write JavaScript codes, I have no idea.  ~Steptrip 01:30, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Please disregard the last two messages. To answer your question, it is essentially the same as all programming languages; certain codes yield certain outputs. For example, is you look at the top left corner, you are going to see 6 wikilinks. One day, I asked a user to give me some JavaScript code for adding another link to that cluster. If you wanted a hyperlink to the Wannabe Kate tool, the code would be as follows:

addOnloadHook(function () {
    addPortletLink('p-personal', 'http://tools.wikimedia.de/~interiot/cgi-bin/Tool1/wannabe_kate',
        'Wannabe Kate', 'pt-wannabe kate', 'Wannabe Kate', null, document.getElementById('pt-preferences'));
});

Where in the ('pt-preferences')); section you would insert whatever hyperlink beside which you would like to insert the new hyperlink. If you have no idea about which subject what I'm talking, please add the code to your monobook.js file and play around with it.  ~Steptrip 23:08, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Sure, what are you trying to change about your sig (i.e. links, font faces)?  ~Steptrip 01:11, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE:Sig

Sorry that I took so long to respond; when I woke up this morning, I had about 5 new messages. Your signature looks good, but don't get so caught up on that type of stuff that you forget about the encyclopedia.  ~Steptrip 19:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I was browsing your subpages via the Special:Prefixindex page, and I should tell you that you must add the above script to your monobook.js file.  ~Steptrip 23:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

This looks slightly familiar. Isn't this on a subpage of yours, Steptrip? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 00:40, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Yup, since Fan put some ASCII art on your talk page, I figured I should put some on his.  ~Steptrip 01:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, that was better than some card for sure! I know its spring break, but please try to complete these assignments. Btw, do you like the one that I gave you?  ~Steptrip 01:20, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE:=)

Try using the Anti-vandal tool to boost your edit count. If you don't feel like reverting an article, just use the live spellcheck function. I do use VPRF sometimes, but every time I use it, I get error messages. Truth be told, I think you deserve to use VandalProof, since your sixty or so edits are worth at least 175 minor edits. Just to clear everything up, I saw User:ChocolateLover96 and she got indef blocked for not having enough mainspace edits, and I didn't want you getting blocked.  ~Steptrip 01:34, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Rule of thumb: To me, every major edit is worth about 4 minor edits.  ~Steptrip 01:44, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I felt the same way when I first used the tool

Just follow this link; you should see the page expand, then an orange box will appear that says "(0) Updating ..." wait about 5 seconds, and a list will appear that looks something like:

George W. Bush matched your mother

At this point, you can do this one of 2 ways: Enable the box that says "Use non-admin rollback" or compare the two most recent versions of the article in question and click the "Undo" link above the more recent of the two versions. Either way will undo the article. Hope this helps,  ~Steptrip 23:04, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

(1) Okay, go to the history tab of a vandalized article. (2) Then select the vandalized version with the buttons in the right-hand column, then select the last valid version with one of the buttons in the left-hand column. (3) Click "Compare Selected Versions" (the button is near the top left corner of the page. In the section of the page that has a green background, look above it to the second-to-the-top line of text at the right hand side and you should see an "Undo" Button. (4) Click Undo. (5) Click the "Save this Page" button.  ~Steptrip 01:53, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

You may not be on for some time after I post this message, but I thought you may like this {{Wdefcon}} template, given the background on your userpage:

Just add {{Wdefcon|prefix=User:Herostratus/Nautical/}} to your userpage. The resulting product is
Image:herostratus defcon maritime 4.jpg

Small craft advisory. (Low to moderate level of vandalism.)

Less than 100 edits/minute to begin with... only ~5 reverts/minute. Still some though.Calvin 1998 (t-c) 05:39, 14 June 2008 (UTC) change

Of course, the template updates itself via the input at Template:Wdefcon.  ~Steptrip 15:24, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Pw!

Haha, yeah. I'm debating whether to archive it, but I'll just leave it alone for now. Oh, well, I actually used to do a lot of stuff with Lyricwiki, but I don't do so much with it anymore. But thanks for helping and spreading the word. Haha, well, sure anytime, I'm not one to label myself, but I suppose I would be an inclusionist. And, I liked it, I didn't see how it would hurt anyone. I think it was stupid to delete it. - Bagel7 19:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Warning: Due dates approaching

I need that revert assignment by Apr 10. If you're still confused by my directions, check out Help:Revert or add

importScript('User:AzaToth/morebits.js');
importScript('User:AzaToth/rwinklefluff.js');

to your monobook.js file to add revert functionality when comparing two revisions of an article's history (you should see red, green, and brown text in comparison). Hope that helps,  ~Steptrip 19:18, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I can't remember if I found toughmonster's page per yours or not ... Are you creating a status page? Oh, and Btw, in that script list, it's supposed to be:
importScript('User:AzaToth/morebits,js');
importScript('User:AzaToth/twinklefluff.js');

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:Poolspar.jpg with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Image:Poolspar.jpg with a link to the details.
