As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Chittagong Kotwali has a population of 246893. Males constitute are 62.62% of the population, and females 37.38%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 159706. Chittagong Kotwali has an average literacy rate of 71.5% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
