Chitta Batta is a small village with around 5,000 inhabitants in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. It is located at 34°22'0N 73°16'0E[1] and lies on the highway to Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir and it's 10km from downtown Mansehra. It's the village that was visited by the scholar Mr.Habib-ur-Rehman Shah between 1980-1989[citation needed]. He was a broad minded liberal scholar and he united the people together who were suffering from religious discrimination, he guided them religiously throughout the rest of his life[citation needed]. People not only know him in this small village but also all over Pakistan and now in many parts of world through his children[citation needed].

After the earthquake of 2005 a settlement was established to help victims of the quake,[2] the camp looked after 800 outpatients a day.[3] A Turkish relief organisation, the Turkish Light House, launched a project to build two schools in the area.[4]
