[edit] About
CHIP was launched in India in April 1998. It was earlier published in India by Jasubhai Digital Media under a licensing agreement with Vogel-Veriag of Germany. It touched a circulation of 120,000.[1] However, financial issues led to Jasubhai parting ways with Vogel, and launching their own magazine called Digit.[2]
Later, the magazine was licensed to Infomedia. It has a readerbase of over 750,000[citation needed]. The Magazine used to carry with it a free DVD and two CDs each month. The DVD contained Game demos, software and sometimes, a Linux Distro. The two CDs were labelled Tools & Toys. Tools contained the latest applications & utilities whereas Toys contained Games, Game Demos, Wallpapers, Game Trailers, Movie Trailers & other utilities. Starting from December 2006, the magazine's anniversary, CHIP started providing a dual layer DVD.
