Chintapally

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chintapally is a village and mandal headquarters in the Nalgonda district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

"Chinta" in the Telugu language means "tamarind". During olden days, it was known for large-sized tamarind trees across the village.

Being midway to Hyderabad on the Nagarjuna Sagar highway, it also acts as a tourists' rest place. Since it is a business hub for surrounding small villages and thandas, it was made a mandal.

To reach the main village, you have to travel 2 km from the main road. Since there are no buses between the main road and the village, you have to ask for a lift from a fellow traveler. On the way to the village, you can see the many tamarind trees for which this village acquired its name.
