Chinnoor

Chinnoor is a small village on the banks of the Godavari River in Adilabad District, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Introduction

Chinnoor saw one of the earliest settlements, located on the banks of Godavari river. It is empowered with rich cultural values. During the Godavari Pushkara times thousands of pilgrims come here to perform rituals.

This place has close culturl relations with the villages that have similar features - Manthini, Dharmapuri and Kaleswaram.

There is an ancient temple here - "shivalayam". This is believed to be built by Thimmarusu, during the Krishna devaraya times in the 16th century. Some of the other temples popular here are round temple, Jagannatha aalayam, Bada Hanuman.

Chinnoor had been famous for getting versatile kinds of hand-sticks.

Educational Institutes During 1970s Chinnoor was among the handful villages in the district that boasted of having a High school and Junior college. Students from various other places used to come here for their primary and college education.

The glory of the Govt Junior College seems to be fading in last few years with the mushrooming corporate schools culture.

Somewhere around 1980 a degree college was sanctioned thanks to some good work done by the then MLA.

Among the primary schools Junior Basic School(JBS), Upper primary School (UPS) and Girls High school were providing primary education with reasonably good standards.

Later Some of the private schools picked up and increased the options available.

Natural Resources Chinnoor is in the proximity coal belt area - widley known as Singareni Colleries. It has an open mine in the out-skirts.

Connectivity & Transport facilities Chinnoor is better placed now compared to many other places in district in terms of connectivity.

It has improved over the years and now a national high way (Nizamabad - Jagdalpur) touches the town, improving the road infrastructure.

The Delhi - Hyderabad rail way line is only a 35 km away; Mancherial and Godavarikhani are the nearest railway stations.
