Chinenye Ivy Ochuba was born into a family of ten - she is the seventh of eight children. After finishing her secondary education at Regan Memorial Secondary School, she was about to start university when she won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant in 2002. This made her eligable to represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico. Despite being a favourite for the crown, she failed to make the Top Ten.(No black woman made it to the Top Ten that year, which led to the term "2002 Blackout"). However, she fared better at the Miss World pageant in the same year where she was a finalist, as well as African Continental Queen of Beauty.
Ochuba is currently finishing her degree at the University of Greenwich, London. In 2007, it was reported that she is now engaged to be married.
