Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke (born June 1, 1986), also known by his nickname Edu, is a Nigerian footballer. He plays as a striker for the German club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and has made nine appearances for the Nigerian national football team.

"Edu", as he is also known, came to Norway at the same time as his countryman Mikel, and they were both considered to have a potential to grow to be a world class player. In June 2005 he was also linked with a move to Chelsea in England. Chinedu impressed in the Under-20 World Championships in Holland in the summer of 2005, and scored both in the semi-final and the final, (which Nigeria lost to Argentina). On August 14, 2006, it was reported in UK newspaper The Times that Arsenal were interested in signing Ogbuke. At the time he was also linked with CSKA Moscow and Liverpool. On December 20 a transfer deal was announced with Lokomotiv Moscow[1] and Ogbuke was set to move to the Russian side in January. The deal was derailed, however, when the president, sporting director and manager of Lokomotiv were all fired six days later. Ogbuke was later linked to Wigan, Portsmouth and Celtic.

He trained with Portsmouth for a fortnight, and Harry Redknapp was pleased with his progress. He was set for a move to the south coast club, but Redknapp was concerned over work permit issues, as Ogbuke had not played enough full international matches for Nigeria for him to receive clearance to play in the UK. Harry remains hopeful that he will be able secure his services later on in his career, should he stay on top form.[2]

Finally, on August 27, 2007 Edu moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for an undisclosed fee.[3]
