The China Sharks are a professional ice hockey team based in Beijing, China, and a member of Asia League Ice Hockey. The team was formed in 2007 as a merger between the Changchun Fuao team from Changchun City in Jilin and Hosa team from Beijing. The Sharks plays home games at the Beijing Shijixing Sport Center.
Under the management of Chinese Ice Hockey Association, players were selected from the two teams to form the new team, originally sponsored by Hosa Sports. As a result of negotiation between the Chinese Association and the San Jose Sharks, the NHL team agreed to send five players and three coaches to the Chinese team, in exchange for the team naming rights. The team's logo is indentical to the Cleveland Barons, a previous affiliate of the Sharks.

The Changchun Fuao franchise originated as the Snow Leopards, who played in Qiqihar for two seasons in 2004-05 and 2005-06 at the Qiqihar Gymnasium. Qiqihar finished last place both years, and missing the playoffs. The team relocated to Changchun playing at the Fuao Ice Center for the 2006-07 season. They finished 8th and last place, out of the playoffs. Due to financial troubles, they merged with the Hosa ice hockey team for the 2007-08 season.

The Hosa ice hockey franchise originated in Harbin, where it played for two seasons in 2004-05 and 2005-06 at the Harbin Ice Hockey Rink. Harbin finished second last place both years, and missing the playoffs. The team relocated to Beijing for the 2006-07 season, where they finished 7th place, out of the playoffs. The was sponsored by "Hosa," a local sporting goods company, and played at the Hosa Ice Center. Due to financial troubles, they merged with the Changchun Fuao ice hockey team for the 2007-08 season.
