Chile was the first country which recognized Turkey in Latin America with the Friendship Treaty, in 1926. In Santiago, there are Turkish Republic Square, Atatürk College and Atatürk bust. The Turkish embassy in Chile is the first embassy of Turkey opened in Latin America. In addition, in Turkey, there is a Chile Square, Bernardo O'Higgins Monument, Chile Republic Elementary School; all of which were built to develop the friendship between two countries.[1]
