Children of the Anachronistic Dynasty (also known as C.A.D.) were an industrial and alternative rock band that was formed in 1986 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Originally consisting of Maynard James Keenan on vocals, bass guitar, and drum machine programming with Kevin Horning on guitar, they released an independent compact cassette entitled Fingernails in 1986, recorded in Keenan's living room. In March 1987, Todd Horning (rhythm guitar), Stan Henderson (bass), and Tom Geluso (drums) were recruited from Keenan and Horning's former band, TexA.N.S., to help record a new EP called Dog.House, which was released in spring 1987. Although Fingernails has been well-pirated on the Internet via MP3 format, Dog.House is considerably rarer.

Although the band went nearly unnoticed during its time together, interest in the band increased after Keenan became famous as the lead singer of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer.
