Children Act 2004

The Children Act 2004 is a United Kingdom act that was asserted on November 15th 2004.[1] [2] The Act was an amendment of the Children Act 1989 as a consequence of the Victoria ClimbiƩ inquiry.[3]

The original creation of the act is used as a basic for many things that are considered helpful to children.

The act was created with a certain set of goals in mind. Its primary purpose is to give boundaries, and help for local authorities and/or other entities to better regulate laws/enact punishment. The purposes behind the act are as follows:

  • Changes around laws that pertain to children.
  • Makes modifications to laws when they deal with issues related to children (foster homes, adoption agencies, babysitting services).
  • Allows some "changes" to the law when it relates to general authority figures handling child related crimes and crimes against children.

There is a long history of the children's act. Along with the Children's Act of 1989 and the Children's Act of 2004, there were reports in 2002, 2003, and 2004-5.[2] Each act has progressively attempted to make the legal issues related to children in all forms become better, and better for children. [2]

The specifics of 2004 where geared towards also including and affecting disabled kids. [2] The idea behind the act is to promote (co-ordination) between multiple entities to improve the overall well being of children in all parts of the united kingdom.[4] Using a series of law repeals, law amendments, legal consultation acts, and setting in motion multiple other acts this act's main purpose is to make the UK better for children of all ages.
