Chilca has a surface of 27.68 km², Borders for the East on Huancayo, for the West on the River Mantaro, for the North on Huancayo Cercado and for the South on the Districts of Sapallanga and Huancán, one finds 3,275 m.s.n.m. and has 4 Annexes: Auray, Azapampa, Auquimarca and Tanquiscancha.
The population estimated for the year 2000 according to the National Institute of Statistics is 76,098 inhabitants, 70,211 inhabitants in the urban area and 5,887 rural inhabitants.
