Chikodi is located at 16.43° N 74.6° E.[1] It has an average elevation of 683 metres (2240 feet). It is an Educational District.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Chikodi had a population of 32,820. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Chikodi has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 79% and female literacy of 66%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age. This is the second most populous taluka of Belgaum District. The Taluka is having 102 inhabited villages . It consists of rich sugar belt, as Farming is a major activity of the area. The taluka has 3 Sugar Factories in its belt. Krisna, Vedaganga, Dudhganga rivers made the land fertile and precious for agriculture. Nowadays trend of Siri Culture is in boom in this area.
