Chieu Luu

Chieu Luu (劉照初) (b. Aug. 29, 1979, Tanjung Pinang, Indonesia) is a Chinese-Canadian journalist, currently working in Washington, D.C.

From 2001-2006, Chieu worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Most recently he was the presentation producer for CBC News: Morning, the flagship morning news program on CBC Television and CBC Newsworld.

Previously, he was assignment and show producer for the weekend editions of CBC News: Morning and CBC News: Today and was also responsible for the content on the CBC Newsworld Weekends Web site.

Chieu also worked on Newsworld Today, Newsworld’s hourly newscasts, Foreign Assignment – where he spent a year producing Joe Schlesinger’s signature essays, CBC News: Sunday, where he produced live interviews during the war on Iraq and the Toronto edition of Canada Now.

Prior to that Chieu reported and edited for newspapers in Toronto and Edmonton, and interned for the CBC local television news in Winnipeg and Halifax. Chieu holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University in Toronto.
