Chickenhead (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chickenhead is a 2001 single by rapper Project Pat featuring La' Chat, DJ Paul and Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia. The song became a Dirty South anthem in 2001 and propelled the album Mista Don't Play: Everythangs Workin' to become a platinum record.
The song features La Chat and Project Pat insulting each other, and ends with Juicy J boasting about his ability to get women. Project Pat told the Los Angeles Times:
"Having La Chat on there adds a woman's point of view to the song. I put her on the song because a lot of people are digging her sound and are feeling her. We've got Chat and Gangsta Boo, and it adds a little spice to the music, a little extra cheese to your cheeseburger."[1]
The term chickenhead has since been widely used in hip-hop. The New York Times notes that in his 2000 book Art of Mackin', "Tariq "K-Flex" Nasheed further splits chickenheads into the Low-budget and the Straight-Up Hoochie Chickenhead; to spot the latter, be on the lookout for gold teeth and lips that are 'purple from smoking weed.'" [2] Vybz Kartel mentions chickenheads on his 2006 single "Vybsy Versa Love." [3]
