[edit] Gameplay
[edit] Chicken Invaders 1
Chicken Invaders has a simple gameplay, with one or two player capability. The levels consist of ten waves. The waves never differ, keeping in the same order wave after wave, but they do change in difficulty. The waves are as follows:
- Waves 1 & 2: These waves parody Space Invaders, where instead of shooting alien spacecrafts one shoots chickens.
- Wave 3: This is the first of the Asteroid levels. Asteroids continuously come from top-left corner of the screen.
- Waves 4 & 5: In these levels Chickens fly around a small model of earth.
- Wave 6: In this level asteroids pelt down from the top of screen.
- Wave 7: Be Quick or be Dead. Chickens fly to and from the sides of the screen descending towards the player.
- Wave 8: Chickens fly down towards you going on a slight diagonal.
- Wave 9: Asteroids fly from the top a bit slower, but go slightly diagonal.
- Wave 10: In this wave you meet the boss: A large chicken wearing a green shirt with a 'No Sunny-Side up' logo on it.
In all the waves, eggs drop from the top, which have to be dodged, and gifts need to be collected to get points.
Your weapon (possibly the Ion Blaster) has 8 power levels, and missiles can also be collected.[1]
The official version of chicken invaders also has cheats. Due to AI, you can reach as high of levels as you want. To activate cheats press f9 + f10. To see the listing of cheats, you may press f5. The list of cheats will be displayed in the upper left-hand corner. It should display the following.
f6 Skip Wave f7 More Weapons f8 Extra Life
By using the cheats, you can get enough missles and lives, that they will eventually go off screen (especially if you're player 1.)
[edit] Chicken Invaders 2: The Next Wave
Chicken Invaders 2 has one or two player capability.[2]
It has 110 waves (including 10 secret ones), ten each in each of the 10 levels across 11 systems, in the following order:[2]
In all levels, except in the Asteroid belt, the ninth wave has a bonus (usually a new weapon, or extra firepower) if no missiles are used; in the asteroid belt, there is no bonus, only a continued onslaught of asteroids. The last wave has a boss in all systems except in the Asteroid belt.
The three weapons include:
- Red - Ion Blaster
- Green - Neutron Gun
- Golden (Yellow) - Laser Cannon
Weapons have 10 levels, and a secret 11th level, which can only be reached by an additional 10 powerups after the 10th level powerup.[2]
In all the waves, eggs are laid by the chickens (Christmas ornaments in the Christmas edition), which have to be dodged, and drumsticks need to be collected to get missiles (holly leaves in the Christmas edition).
