Chicken Express is a small, regional chain of fast food drive-through restaurants concentrated in the Southern United States. The restaurant chain was established in 1988 in Benbrook, Texas, as part of the Stuart Group, Inc., formed by Richard and Nancy Stuart [1]. There are more than one hundred restaurants located throughout three states: Texas, Oklahoma, and Georgia [2].

[edit] Food

Chicken Express offers Fried Chicken, boneless Fried Chicken "Express Tenders" and spicy Hot Wings. Though the chicken is deliciously golden fried and crispy, Chicken Express is best known for its legendary Sweet Tea, which can be purchased by the gallon for those who just can't get enough while dining.
Side Orders include:

  • Mashed Potatoes w/ cream gravy
  • French Fries
  • Corn on the Cob
  • Jalapeno Poppers
  • Cheese Stix
  • Cole Slaw
  • Fried Okra
  • Corn Nuggets
  • Butter Biscuits

Some locations also offer Catfish and Hushpuppies.

Chicken Express differs from other chicken restaurants in that the menu contains a few items, sometimes varying from franchise to franchise, that conventional chicken restaurants don't offer in the main menu. They have at some locations the choice of Dublin Dr. Pepper directly from the fountain. Fried livers and gizzards are offered as main entree choices, which are not normally found at most chicken venues, or at least have to be requested as they aren't on the normal menu. Another unique feature, at several locations in Texas, is rather than use speakers in the drive thru, wait staff walkout and take your order. This provides a more personable experience to customers.
