Chicago May, Queen of the Blackmailers is an historical biography of May Duigan, written by Frank Columb.
May Duignan, a native of Co. Longford, Ireland, is regarded by many to be one of history's most notorious women. She has been profiled as an example in many books on women in crime, a dubious honor. She dabbled in not only prostitution and blackmailing, her two mainstays, but also in swindling, betrayal, conspiracy, revenge, assault, barbarity, brawling, cruelty, beggary, pickpocketing, drifting, dereliction and attempted murder (of her former lover, Eddie Guerin). She operated her schemes on four continents and in nine countries.
Columb, an Irish historian, is recognized to be the authority on Chicago May.
