Re:AFD
That looks like a consensus to keep to me. If that user wants the article deleted, they can open another AFD, but there is no reason you should overturn your decision and delete it. jj137 (talk) 03:07, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Not a problem. jj137 (talk) 03:10, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi Chetblong, could you describe your thinking behind closing this as a "keep"? Thanks in advance. --Dragonfiend (talk) 07:26, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- You are the only one who asked for the article to be deleted, as the nominator was neutral, and the rest were keep. Most of the keep !votes cited policy as a reason to keep not just that they liked the article, therefore they count. Therefore the consensus was keep and the AFD was closed per the consensus. Hope that helps, --ChetblongT C 18:57, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- Let me try to summarize this. Buspar, creator of the article says it ought to be kept and misrepresents the sources and what they actually say. Winged Cat and 130.49.157.75, in their 1st edits, in a great coincidence, both appear to express great familiarity with the article and its long history, and also misrepresent the sources. JoshuaZ, Ubardak, and GarryKosmos all simply say keep per the likely sockpuppets misrepresenting sources. Bulmabriefs144 says keep per things like "notable for its sheer length and run-time" which have no basis in policy. Queerudite says they want a rationale beyond just recreation of deleted material. I gave such a rationale as to why these sources do not meet our policies. The previous version of this article was deleted in part for it being an autobiographical/COI work of the former editor known as User:Xuanwu. Besides writing on his non-notable webcomic, this user also enjoyed writing about G-On Riders, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Ron Paul's performance in debates. Shortly after his autobiographical webcomic article was deleted and he left, a new User:Buspar appeared, who coincidentally also enjoys writing about this webcomic in their first edit, G-On Riders, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Ron Paul's performance in debates. Also an interesting coincidence: GaryKosmos first appears around the same time and also enjoys writing about G-On Riders, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Ron Paul's performance in debates. So, to me it looks like my concerns about lack of sources that meet our content policies were never addressed, and there was some likely puppeteering going on in order to try to create an illusion of consensus. As I said on the AfD, which was never refuted: the best source for this topic is a trivial mention in a story about a non-notable local library program. --Dragonfiend (talk) 02:02, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Just so you know I don't particularly like articles like this staying in the Wiki, however as a sysop I edit according to consensus not my POV, therefore I close AFDs per consensus. Remember if you don't like why or how the AFD was closed, here are your options. Cheers , ChetblongT C 02:29, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- I understand. What I am saying is that "closing admins are expected and required to exercise their judgment in order to make sure that the decision complies with the spirit of all Wikipedia policy and with the project goal." You may not have had enough information to interpret the debate correctly if you weren't familiar with the article's history or the history of these editors, so I am bringing this likely significant new information to you now so you can revisit your decision and correct any mistakes or misunderstandings. --Dragonfiend (talk) 02:42, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- I see what information you've brought me, however I am not changing my decision as I closed the AFD per consensus. If you don't agree you may open another AFD as is stated here. ChetblongT C 03:12, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- What do you mean by "per consensus"? Your original decision to keep an article on a topic with no verifiable information from significant coverage in reliable, independent sources seems to ignore the consensus behind our long established policies, guidelines and practices. As does sticking by that decision when faced with evidence that the "consensus" you saw was more likely sock puppetry. So what exactly do you mean by "per consensus"? Vote counting? Of sock puppets? --Dragonfiend (talk) 03:27, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if I did not close the AFD how you wanted it closed. I repeat, I'm not changing my decision, if you don't like it than open another AFD. If your opinion is that sock puppetry was involved than report the users. ChetblongT C 03:43, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- There's no reason to apologize for not closing a certain way, unless that close is incorrect. Maybe if you explained your original close, or your decision to stand by that when faced with presumably new information, then I might think your decisions were correct. Could you be more clear on how you believe your close is consistent with our content policies and guidelines in regards to sourcing standards, or how you've weighed my evidence of sock puppetry, or answer my question on what you mean by "per consensus"? You're not giving me much of a description on how you determined the consensus of an AfD full of likely puppets whose ideas are counter to our long-standing policies and guidelines. --Dragonfiend (talk) 04:33, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have stated why I closed the AFD as keep, and if you need to know what consensus is then look here. It is not for me to determine if the article whose AFD I'm closing meets our policy, the community decides that and they did. If you remember correctly Wikipedia's policy was created by the community, so if they want to keep the article than it is kept. I again repeat I'm not changing my decision, start another AFD if your not happy with it. --ChetblongT C 21:52, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
-
- I'm quite familiar with the Wikipedia:Consensus policy; I was asking for you to explain how you feel it applies in this case, not for you to provide me a link for it. For example, how your close fits in with "When consensus is referred to in Wikipedia discussion, it always means 'within the framework of established policy and practice'. Even a majority of a limited group of editors will almost never outweigh community consensus on a wider scale, as documented within policies." That is, when we have policies and guidelines that require a certain level of sourcing, then a handful of people on an AfD cannot override that. Also, "Wikipedia's decisions are not based on the number of people who showed up and voted a particular way on a particular day; they are based on a system of good reasons." That is, that I was "the only one who asked for the article to be deleted" is immaterial; what is important rather than vote counting is whether the article actually meets our policies. --Dragonfiend (talk) 00:12, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, but "whether the article actually meets our policies" has a bit of subjectiveness - as evidenced by this very debate. In your subjective opinion, it did not. In my subjective opinion, and that of the other keep votes who looked at the question (which, granted, was not all of them), it did. As to the consensus - 8 people saying one thing and 1 person saying another is sometimes as good a consensus as can be reached, before most parties lose interest and true discussion (intended to address the 1 person's issues) effectively ceases.Winged Cat (talk) 02:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Dragonfiend, please stop trying to browbeat this admin into reversing the AfD simply because you disagree with the decision. "Per consensus" means, in this case, that you were the only person arguing for delete. Also, if you want to argue about sock puppetry, the previous version of this article's AfD looked like a sock puppet operation headed by you: most the people who were saying "keep" in this case put forth more substantial arguments than most of those who voted "delete" and did not otherwise significantly contribute to the discussion. Wikipedia is not a battleground. Please consider that your point of view on this topic may be slightly incorrect, as evidenced by the fact that no one is agreeing with you on deleting this article. (And yes, I don't edit Wikipedia much these days - my early efforts were mostly either vandalized and then reverted back to before my edits, or simply AfDed without much debate, or similarly rejected. Kind of discouraging. This AfD was the first I've written on Wikipedia in over a year; I decided I might as well register for it.) --Winged Cat (talk) 19:09, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Question about your criteria for adminship
You state that in your criteria for adminship that for an administrator to be active in CSD related deletions, they need to have over 100 CSD tags with an 85% success rate. My question is, is how this is measured. CSD tags, if successful, don't show up in a user's contributions, because the page that was tagged was deleted. How does one find out the amount of CSD tagging one has done (other than indirectly, through notifications on user talk pages)? scetoaux (talk) (My contributions.) 05:23, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- If you're an admin you can see the deleted contribs, so thats how you can see how many CSD tagged articles have been deleted. --ChetblongT C 05:35, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Image issue
There appears to be a minor issue with the images you create, like Image:Basketball110.png and Image:Chetblong flickr logo.png. You claim the image is used under a claim of fair free use and then add a trademark symbol (TM) in the image itself. By claiming it is "trademarked" it gives a false sense of ownership for the username being used to brand a good or service. To those working with images, it is very confusing. While it is essentially harmless, I would request you reupload the images you did this too without the trademark sign, as it is very misleading. — Save_Us † 09:44, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry about saying fair use, I meant free. That'll teach me to not edit until the early morning hours. >_> It is fine, I never said it had to be removed, as I stated above that they are essentially harmless since it is a free image. I just suggested it since it was misleading to some editors and guessing from your comment, I don't think I was the only one. It's fine really. — Save_Us † 19:27, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- That's fine, and yes you weren't the only one. But since I had another admin backing me I felt pretty good about my decision. And don't worry I've stayed up until the next morning sometimes editing Wikipedia. Cheers! ChetblongT C 19:34, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Please do not put pointless or misleading warnings on my page. AfD nomination of Harlow's Casino Resort
An editor has nominated Harlow's Casino Resort, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Harlow's Casino Resort and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:59, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Deletion Rethink
Hi, you deleted the page for Medy Elito on the 2nd March 2008 on the basis that he hadn't played for the Colchester United first team. He played for them last night in the game against Plymouth - I therefore think that a re-think might be in order. Can the page be re-instated? But tell Awadewit, if you can, to remove the {{di-disputed fair use rationale}} tag when Awadewit adds a fair-use rational from now on, so it will be less likely for the image to get deleted by accident. Also, if you want I'd be happy to make a logo for you as well! Cheers , ChetblongT C 03:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and welcome to the Celtics WikiProject! We are a group of (mainly) Celtics fans who help to improve coverage related to the Boston Celtics on Wikipedia.
Looking for somewhere to start? Here is a few suggestions.
- You can check out topics on the main page.
- You can add {{WikiProject Boston Celtics}} to talk pages of Boston Celtics-related articles, and assess them as well.
- Check out the to do list for the WikiProject, and opt to try and complete some of those tasks.
If you have any comments, suggestions, or would like to talk about the project in general, feel free to leave a message on the talk page.

Can you give me the steps for making the logo's on powerpoint? Do you have 07, or 03? Anyways, I tried, but couldn't do it. And, BTW, expand tags are not needed when stub tags are already there - Milk's Favorite Cookie 01:26, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

By the way, what do you think of WP:DFW, as a project? User:A little mollusk and I "revived" it. Basketball110 21:52, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Lol, yes actually I have no other choice but to make them up as I go along . And I love the look of WP:DFW so could you make WP:ARK look similar? And I think I might join WP:DFW as well. ChetblongT C 21:58, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Basketball110 has given you a fresh pie! Pies promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day a little better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a piping hot pie, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Bon appetit!
Spread the tastiness of pies by adding {{subst:GivePie}} to their talk page with a friendly message.

Riana's request for bureaucratship
|
Dear Chet, thank you for taking part in my RfB. As you may know, it was not passed by bureaucrats.
I would, however, like to thank you for taking the time to voice your support, despite concerns cited by the opposition. Although RfA/B isn't really about a person, but more about the community, I was deeply touched and honoured by the outpouring of support and interest in the discussion. I can only hope that you don't feel your opinion was not considered enough - bureaucrats have to give everyone's thoughts weight.
I also hope that the results of this RfB lead to some change in the way we approach RfBs, and some thought about whether long-entrenched standards are a good thing in our growing and increasingly heterogenous community.
I remain eager to serve you as an administrator and as an editor. If at any point you see something problematic in my actions, please do not hesitate to call me out. ~ Riana ⁂ 12:40, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

hi!
just want to ask, what are my options from editing "The Philippine STAR" wiki —Preceding unsigned comment added by Polgas2008 (talk • contribs) 05:11, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oh I hadn't seen your question, sorry 'bout that. Anyways, since you are an employed by "The Philippine STAR" the best advice I can give you is to edit the article in accordance with our Neutral Point of View and Conflict of Interest policies. As long as you do that you're free to improve the article. Cheers ! ChetblongTalkSign 04:16, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi!
I got a few questions about the facts from The Philippinee STAR's wiki, i think some of the references are a bit outdated (e.g. Filipino English and Taglish: Language Switching from Multiple ) this book is published in year 2003. but after that year, there has been many changes happened. and talking about COI, you happened to refer from the articles from Philippine Daily Inquirer, is it okey to do that? i mean Philippine Daily Inquirer is been competing against The Philippine STAR on whos' realy number one, ehehe
and also can we do the same as what they did? having a reference posted from our own website?
Thanks, --Polgas2008 (talk) 08:18, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Logo image
Hello. I'm pretty sure you get this all the time, but I was wondering if you can design my username into a logo image, as you've done for several users. I would most appreciate it if you have the time to create it. Zenlax T C S 19:36, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sure! How would you like it to look? Colors, font, perhaps an image? --ChetblongTalkSign 19:40, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I'm not very handy with designs, but I would like this design to come in place. If its possible, I would like the color choice be Forest Green, if possible. Font? I hope you can surprise me with it. I would like an image, so it can replace "User:Zenlax", "User talk:Zenlax", etc. Zenlax T C S 19:57, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- If you don't mind, I'm going to 'hijack' the discussion... User:Vostok sg would like a logo. Are you able to make one? Basketball110 22:19, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I'll get around to making both of these in a few days. Tell User:Vostok sg that for me please :). Cheers, --ChetblongTalkSign 23:49, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Medy Elito
As you were the deleting admin of the Medy Elito article, I'm requesting it be recreated as it now passes WP:BIO#Athletes, which were the grounds it was deleted on. - I can't undelete the article myself as that would be against consensus, but you can recreate it if you think it passes the notability standards at this point. Cheers, --ChetblongTalkSign 01:21, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
