Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Chester. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --Lijnema 21:22, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Chester. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. --Lijnema 09:41, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Boughton.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Boughton.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 02:54, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The Cheshire WikiProject
I see you have been making good additions to the Chester entry, and I wondered whether you might be interested in joining the Cheshire WikiProject? We have just formed, and are busy sorting out what jobs need doing. We have also started on some of the more pressing tasks. These are being discussed on the project's talk page. Please feel free to join and to contribute if you feel able to. DDStretch (talk) 23:05, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Saxoncrosses.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Saxoncrosses.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:08, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Citations and Providing references
Your recent contribution(s) to Wikipedia are very much appreciated, particularly to those concerned with Cheshire and its history. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at inline citations that best suits each article. Thanks! DDStretch (talk) 23:29, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Boughton_Pipe.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Boughton_Pipe.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 00:12, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Walmoor Hill
A tag has been placed on Walmoor Hill, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Snigbrook 23:29, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
