[edit] Indian philately
Hi and welcome to Wikipedia! I see you have some interest in stamps; you may want to take a look at postage stamps and postal history of India, fill out my feeble effort from over a year ago - needs more pics to illustrate the eras, plus all the different states. Stan 17:09, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Hi Stan,
- Glad you pointed that page out, it's got a lot of interesting stuff. I love the nice scans of the stamps you have there, photographing stamps isn't half as good.
- I know you've said that recent Indian stamps are of low quality and collectors don't usually care for them - but, fwiw I have a small collection (a few hundred stamps) of new mostly unmarked Indian stamps & first day covers released between 1983 and the early 90s. I find many of them remarkably colorful, unusually huge and some of them are double stamps (art extending onto more than one stamp), triangular stamps or otherwise uniquely shaped. Naturally, none of them saw much use on regular mail. If you'd like pics of any of them for the history page, I could possibly shoot them on a high quality digicam as best as I can (I don't own a scanner). I really don't know a whole lot about philately; I lost interest as an early teen. --Cheeni 20:07, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- Looking at the article again, I think the "quality" knock is too sweeping - the era of muddy lithographs is really just 1950s-60s. I'll fix the article unless you want to. Don't worry about digicam photos, too hard to get details in. As you can see from clicking on images in User:Stan Shebs/Gallery/Philately, high resolution gives the reader a "virtual magnifying glass" - very useful when someone is halfway around the world and wants to examine a stamp closely without having one in hand! [edit] Image:Shoukadou bentou.jpg
Hi! Thanks for uploading Image:Shoukadou bentou.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, – Quadell (talk) (help) 14:09, Jan 21, 2005 (UTC)

I have to second this request - you took these pictures, posted them on wikipedia and intended them to be used in the Carnegie Mellon article, and now they want to remove them. Could you change the licensing so they can stay? --Matt 16:40, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:MNIC prototype.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:MNIC prototype.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:03, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tehsil ≈ borough?
I'm not sure borough is the best choice, please see my note at Talk:Tehsil. I admit I am not very well informed. Let's continue the discussion at the tehsil talk page if you like. —EsdnePyaJ 01:58, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Bootvis-screenshot.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Bootvis-screenshot.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:04, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
