[edit] Removing flags
Most people on WikiProject Football seem to want them removed, on here. -- Mattythewhite 07:53, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- That doesn't exactly seem like most to me. That's 2 or 3 total. Che84 11:40, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Dallman.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dallman.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Your picture
It was an image without a tag or a fair use rationale. All images on Wikipedia have to have a tag on them explaining their copyright status, which is automatically added when you select an option from the drop-down menu when uploading pictures. (Or, you can add it manually.) Next, if it is copyrighted by someone other than you, it must include a fair use rationale, which basically explains why the image has no free alternatives available for the purpose it serves in its article, and what specific purpose it is being used for. (Our fair use policy, which I've linked above, explains it in better detail.) Grandmasterka 01:39, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Danish 1st Division 2006-07 edits
Hi there! Could you please explain why you made these edits: (1st – not regarding the update, obviously, but the removal of Køge's footnote) (2nd – removal of 2007-08-part of Danish Superliga-link) The first one seems odd, since footnotes were created for the very purpose you remove it for, the second one is (in my opinion) making the article less accurate, since the promoted teams do promote to the Superliga 2007-08-season only. In addition, all of the Superliga, 1st and 2nd Division-articles use the exact same wording. /AB-me (chit-chat) 23:09, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Point taken on the first edit; I still think that the season-part of the link gives a pleasing systematic look, also for when the season is over, you'll get the link to the season they promoted to. "The 2006-07 season of the Danish Superliga" is a bit long for a wiki-link in my opinion /AB-me (chit-chat) 12:59, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Landon Donovan
Hmmm, right you are. That's interesting given that he was listed during the world cup as a midfielder on that very same page. Oh well though. Thanks for pointing it out, I hadn't realized it had changed. Batman2005 20:16, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] United States men's national soccer team
Hi there, I'm writing about a recent revert you made to the article. "Soccer" is an abbreviation for Association Football, used to distinguish it from American Football. Whilst soccer is the name universally used in America, the opening sentence should reflect the official term, even if this is not the most common form. For instance, Indy 500 is the term you'd normally use for the race, but its official name is the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, as reflected in the opening sentence. I would also point out that I used "soccer" for the wikilink on the basis that "association football" is not a phrase commonly used in the USA. Normally I discuss before reverting, but I'm going to be bold and revert because I believe I'm correct to do so. However if I've overstepped the mark feel free to re-revert and explain the rationale on the talk page, and if that happens I promise not to edit again before consensus is reached. 82.13.151.148 (talk) 21:57, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- First off, anon, create an account so that it is easier to resolve issues like this. You're input will be much more easily accepted if you are not anon, because as you can imagine this issue has generated a fair ammount of controversy/vandalism in the past. Second, Che84 is correct in reverting because of wikipedia's policy of using commonly accepted colloquialisms (sp?) over contextually confusing terms. This article pertains to the the US team which plays for a country that has overwhelmingly adopted the term soccer to mean association football. Soccer is the name of the game used in the title of the article, the governing body of the sport in the US, and the major professional league in the US. That said this isn't that big of an issue and to be honest could have been either way, but as with the gasoline article this is an issue best decided by whatever was used first and what has been generally accepted as consensus for quite some time. I do thank you for your input, and for your attempts to resolve this without having an edit war. Grant.alpaugh (talk) 04:30, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I hope you understand that the case was against Grant and not any of the other innocent users that I had mentioned. I have already made a public apology to all the users on Grants Sock puppet case page. Kingjeff (talk) 17:04, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for the Sock case. This was more about Grant then it was about you. Kingjeff (talk) 17:44, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
