Talk:Chevrolet Equinox
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I would like to share experiences on the Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD. I will say that initially, the I thought car was great. I love the way it drives (very comfortable), it has a fair amount of power and is decievingly fast on the highway (you look down and you are doing 90 mph if your not careful!). Now moving on to some of the nuisances I have observed:
1.)The car has never gotten the highway gas mileage rating that was on the sticker. Unfortunately that was one of the big sellers for me, since this was purchased as a commuter car (rated at 25 mpg, it was regularly getting 18.5-19.5 after break-in... No matter what speed it was driven at!
2.)After 3-4 months of ownership, something broke loose underneath the front end, and the car was plagued with a rattling when hitting bumps. The dealer replaced both front struts which seemed to alleviate the problem.
3.) After about 5-6 months we were noticing that the fuel gauge was not functioning properly. It would read 1/2 full when you just filled the tank, and also not always let you know when it was dangerously low. This has been repaired several times by the dealer with no real long term fix... seems to be a re-occuring problem. The car is almost out of warranty now, and I am worried about what will/might go wrong next.
I will say that the addition of synthetic oil has boosted the gas mileage 1-2 mpg consistently. But it has still never gotten better than 22-23. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.191.33.12 (talk)

[edit] Predecessor
The Equinox has been called the successor to the Tracker. Should it say both in the info box? Bok269 22:15, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- The Equinox is a mid-size SUV, and it is larger than both Blazer & Tracker, the SUV's predecessors. The TrailBlazer, introduced in 1999 was actually Chevrolet's add for an SUV and slot between the Tahoe and Blazer. The Equinox isn't a proper replacement for the Tracker, but it's a proper replacement for the S-10 Blazer. GM is looking for a proper Tracker replacement on the Sub-Theta platform. -- Bull-Doser 02:40, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- You got several things wrong. First off, the TrailBlazer appeared in 2002, not 1999. Second, the TrailBlazer was made to replace the Blazer (just look at the name), and the Equinox is considered a replacement for the Tracker as the Equinox is similar in size to the Tracker and appeared shortly after the Tracker was discontinued. --ApolloBoy 03:00, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- The Equinox is much bigger than the Tracker, but is definitely the closest Chevrolet to its replacement. IFCAR 13:25, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
