[edit] Slight Americanisms?

One or two bits in this text read slightly awkwardly to this (British) reader:

  • "noted 17th-century British architect Inigo Jones" - why on earth does "British" need to be specified there?
  • "Lord Stanhope was apparently impressed by the young Charles, Prince of Wales" - "Prince Charles" would read much more smoothly, never mind what his official style might be.
  • "Chevening's being placed at the disposal of Britain's Royal Family" - why not simply "the Royal Family", with the appropriate wikilink?
  • "Prime Minister Thatcher" - now that really does look American!
  • "While Margaret Beckett stayed in her Government flat at Admiralty House." - this is not a proper sentence in either British or American English!

For some reason Wikipedia will let me edit this Talk page but not the main article, or I'd have made a couple of these changes already. 86.136.255.33 02:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
