[edit] Versions
The versions section should be changed to reflect each title separately, and the platforms for which it has been released, along with release dates (multiple if different per platform).
- There's a lot of good information for previous versions on the MobyGames site linked in the External Links section. Can we reference any of that without breaking any rules? --ZeroWiki 166.33.94.6 14:02, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
The box on the side incorrectly only notes MS-DOS as the platform, although the text is more specific that it is widely multiplatform across all its versions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Santaduck (talk • contribs)
Is the 10th Edition equivalent to a chessmaster 10000? so it's the one after 9000 right? 70.111.251.203 02:10, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- Correct. --ZeroOne 12:08, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
well, no not really. chessmaster got bored of 4000 5000 6000 9000 so they put up 10th edition even thought it isnt even the 10th edition (count it). i play chessmaster 10th edition. its good. splitz is good too... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dark wizzie1 (talk • contribs) 21 September 2006
- Well, yeah, in the sense that the series started with Chessmaster 2000, it's the ninth edition. And if you count the games listed at MobyGames, you get the result that it is the thirteenth edition. But the "10th Edition" still is the one after Chessmaster 9000, which was the point. --ZeroOne 14:31, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
yes. rite. oh and bat the 10h edition sounds good. you should listen to the oening music:) anyone here likes chessmaster10th edition?I LOVE IT:) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dark wizzie1 (talk • contribs) 23 September 2006
Kinda makes you wonder what kind of people they have working at Ubisoft.
"Sir, we're all finished. Chessmaster 10,000 is ready to ship out."
"Wait a second. I don't like that title. Chessmaster 10,000 doesn't sound very good."
"Well, we can use a different title. How about Chessmaster 10? Or maybe Chessmaster 10K? We could use a Roman numeral and call it Chessmaster X. What about Chessmaster 2004?"
"No, none of those are any good. Wait, I've got it! We'll call it Chessmaster 10th Edition."
"But sir, the first game in the series was Chessmaster 2000."
"Right."
"Which means that this new game is the ninth game in the series."
"Yep."
"So it's the 9th edition, not the 10th edition."
"What's your point?"

[edit] Pre-Chessmaster Chessmaster?
Searching for "chessmaster" on the World of Spectrum website [1] gets results for two ZX Spectrum games: The Chessmaster 2000 and a game titled Chess Master. This second game was published by a company called Serin Software in 1984, two years before the first edition of Chessmaster was published. Interesting that lawyers never got involved after the Chessmaster games got popular. DT29 06:33, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of amateur computer chess enthusiasts?
"The personality feature has inspired many amateur computer chess enthusiasts to attempt to find more optimum personalities. Notable among these are Kurt Utzinger, Wilhelm Hudetz, Jason Kent, Dom Leste, Milorad Madjar, Graham Banks and Ray Banks." I don't mean any offense to these guys, but I question how notable are these computer chess enthusiasts outside of their own small group? Tony75 (talk) 02:57, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
