[edit] Deletion proposal

Only made by one company, does not assert notability, potential vanity. Perhaps a "list of B&J ice cream flavors" should exist.

Plenty of product articles are single company/source (i.e. WindowsXP). Notability: cultural reference to Jerry Garcia and (if substantiated) claim of "most popular" flavor would likely lead to a finding of fame and conclusion of notability. Vanity page: the way it is now (lacking citations, needing cleanup) certain phrases could be viewed in that light but for perspective take a look at another B&J flavor Phish Food. A flavor list doesn't necessarily have to be an exclusive proposal. I wouldn't have (prod), maybe suggest a (mergeto) 71.135.185.240 12:40, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
The famous story behind the name "Cherry Garcia" is notable. From the Ben and Jerry's UK homepage http://www.benjerry.co.uk/ouricecream/cherry_garcia.php:
The first ice cream flavour named after a rock legend, Cherry Garcia ice cream was first released in 1987; however, it was first suggested over 3 years before by 2 self-proclaimed fans of Ben & Jerry's & the Grateful Dead, who thought we ought to make a flavour named Cherry Garcia, in honour of Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia. Their suggestion was written on a postcard with a Portland, Maine, postmark, but no name or return address. After considerable research and development to find the perfect ingredients, the final recipe included fresh bing cherries & specially formulated chocolate flakes in a rich cherry cream. After making similarly considerable efforts to search for & identify the DeadHead who wrote the postcard, we finally found Jane Williamson. To thank her & to officially recognise her as the original creator of the flavour name, we invited Jane to our 1987 Annual Stockholders' Meeting, where Ben & Jerry presented her (& a friend) with a giant Cherry Garcia pint lid, as well as a year's supply of ice cream. We later upgraded Jane's ice cream award winning status; to this day she's still a card-carrying member of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream For Life Club.

[edit] April 2007 Jerry Garcia Issues

Yes, this kind of ice cream is named after Jerry Garcia. As anyone can see, that information is already included in the article. I assume good faith, but please at least READ this (very short) article before trying to "help" by adding information like this. Also, please be sure to include citation for any dubious claims... Thanks! Dunne409 00:29, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
