[edit] Relationship to Orbitz?

There appears to be extreme similarity in the design, options, and prices of Orbitz and Cheaptickets (at least as far as airfares go), clearly beyond a mere coincidence. Either one website intentionally copies the design of the other, or there is some business relationship between the two websites. Anyone having info on this please add it to the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.74.78.251 (talk) 08:20, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

CheapTickets was acquired by Cendant in 2000, which later acquired Orbitz in 2004. With the breakup of Cendant, both became part of Travelport which was more recently acquired by the Blackstone Group. -- Hawaiian717 15:16, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CheapTickets is owned by Orbitz Worldwide, Inc.

My name is Brian Hoyt, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications for Orbitz Worldwide, Inc. In keeping with Wikipedia's guidelines, I want to highlight that I'm an official representative of the company.

I'd like to suggest some edits related to the ownership structure of CheapTickets.com, which is owned and operated by Orbitz Worldwide, Inc., a publicly trades global online travel company.

--- The suggested/proposed edits would be:

CheapTickets.com was acquired by Cendant Corporation in 2000. CheapTickets is currently owned and operated by Orbitz Worldwide, Inc., following its July 2007 spin-off from Travelport Ltd. (formerly Cendant Travel Distribution Services). Travelport Ltd. remains a major investor in Orbitz Worldwide. Orbitz Worldwide owns a portfolio of online travel brands, also including Orbitz.com, ebookers.com, Away.com, HotelClub.com, RatestoGo.com and corporate travel brands, Orbitz for Business.

I've gone in and made some edits that I hope conveys the spinoff and new name for Orbitz Worldwide adequately. I don't think it is necessary to list the several other sites operated by Orbitz Worldwide here; that would be more appropriate in an article about Orbitz Worldwide itself. -- Hawaiian717 21:10, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
