"Chewing Gum" is a pop song performed by Norwegian singer Annie. The song was written by Richard X and Hannah Robinson for Annie's debut album Anniemal (2004). The song's rhythm and call-and-response style were influenced by Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love". Its lyrics compare being in a relationship with chewing gum, "chewing for fun" and then moving on to the next relationship "when all the flavor has gone."
It was released as the lead single of the album in August 2004 and named single of the week by NME soon after its release. It appeared in Pitchfork Media's Top 50 singles of 2004 list as #11.
