The Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is the statuory fire and rescue service for the English non-metropolitan county of Cheshire and the unitary authorities of Halton (including Runcorn, and Widnes) and Warrington. It has 24 fire stations. Its Chief Fire Officer or Brigade Manager, Steve McGuirk is the current (2007) president of the Chief Fire Officers Association.

[edit] The fire and rescue service
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service employs over 980 staff and looks after a population of 984,300 people spread across an area of 2,334 square kilometres. The region features several large urban areas such as Warrington and Chester, an extensive transport infrastructure and one of the highest concentrations of petrochemical industries in the country. It is in close proximity to two major airports namely Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

A total of 24 fire stations are strategically sited throughout the county. These are broken down as:
- Nine whole-time shift fire stations crewed 24/7
- Five day-crewed stations, crewed during the day but with part-time staff at night
- Ten part-time stations
Across these stations there are 36 fire appliances and a variety of other specialist appliances such as Hydraulic Platforms, Hazardous Materials Vehicles, and Command Units.
