Chesapeake High School, Anne Arundel County (CHS) is one of two high schools in Maryland by that name. The other is the Chesapeake High School of Baltimore County. It opened in 1976 and serves students in grades 9-12. The school serves the local feeder system, encompassing Chesapeake Bay Middle school and the respective six elementary schools that feed into it. The school is two floors and includes a football field, several soccer and other athletic fields, a green house, and a variety of gymnasiums, including a smaller dance studio.

The Library Media Center at Chesapeake High School offers a wide range of print and non-print resources and specialized services. The primary purpose of the center is to provide resources to support the curriculum and to encourage and enhance life-long reading, learning and information literacy for all students. It is a place that our school community can find information to meet their academic and personal needs and provides a comfortable place to read or study.

- The school hosts a distinguished Advanced Placement (AP) program which encompasses a variety of subjects including Human Geography, Music Theory, and Calculus.
- The Music Department boasts an honored legacy and many talented programs including Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and a nationally recognized Marching Band, The Marching Cougars. The Vocal Music program at Chesapeake is on the same par as the instrumental section; including such groups as Concert Choir, Men's Choir, Womans Choir, Jazz Choir and the 16 member audition only Vocal Ensemble. The Music Dept. at Chesapeake is well know thought the County and State as being a perennial powerhouse. Both sections of Chesapeake Music compete annually at the Anne Arundel County Music Festival and in a National Competition- usually bringing home numerous Superior ratings.
- The Drama Club at Chesapeake is one of the better known in the county. Chesapeake puts on two shows a year- a Fall show and a Spring musical. Chesapeake is noted for its high caliber and professional shows.
- The English Department has 3 production based classes that provide services to the school, Yearbook, Literary Magazine, and Newspaper.
- CHS operates in cooperation with the Center Of Applied Technology- North to provide career training.
- Chesapeake is the home of the ED Regional program, the special education center for northern Anne Arundel County including Intensity-V, Inclusion-V, and the Hannah Moore Program.

- In October of 2007, Chesapeake High School was listed as one of four high schools in Anne Arundel County that had outbreaks of staph infections. 28 cases of the infection have also been reported at Severna Park High School, Glen Burnie High School, and Old Mill High School.[1]
- In February of 2008, Chesapeake parents began an organization (CEEDSS) to protest a special education program, known as CRP or the Chesapeake Regional Program, that has been in the school since 1990, but according to parents has been disruptive to education and concealed by administration.[2]
