[edit] History
Annexed by the city from Roanoke County in 1949, the oldest concentration of structures dating from the mid-1900s can be found in the northeastern section of the neighborhood.[2] The remainder of the neighborhood was developed during the 1970s and 80s from former farmland in a more suburban context. Cherry Hill has also been the location of the Roanoke Electric Steel plant since 1949.[2]
