Cheriton Fitzpaine is a Red Devon village, a couple of miles off the main Crediton to Tiverton road. It has many fifteenth-century houses, including the longest thatched house in England (The Primary School). The Church of St Matthew (Church of England) is a Gothic style church. There is also a Methodist Church in the village. The Almshouses date from 1594.
The village also has two pubs, The Half Moon and The Ring of Bells; a Drama Group; a Football Club and a Cricket Club.
[edit] World Record Holders
The Cricket Club held the world record for the world's longest cricket marathon. Previously 26 hours and 13 minutes and held by a French team, the record was broken by over an hour on 24 and 25 June 2006. It now stands at 27 hours and 34 minutes, this was ratified by Guinness World Records on the 19 September 2006.
