Cherian Philip is a leading politician of Kerala, India with LDF under Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPM and is currently Chairman of KTDC ( Kerala Tourism Development Corporation ).He is also the President of Deshiyavaedi Organisation. He also anchors political sarcasm programmes on the Kairali Malayalam TV Channel.

Until 1999, he was in the Indian National Congress and lated joined CPM. Indian National Congress rejected his plea to get a seat in the forthcoming election, and in fury he joined the opposition first as an independent candidate and later as a member.

In 2006, he contested as CPM – Independent candidate for Kerala Assembly Elections from Kallooppara and lost to Joseph M Puthussery (KCM -Kerala Congress[Mani] of [K M Mani]) by 7488 votes .

In 2001, he contested as CPM – Independent candidate against then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Puthuppally Constituency for Kerala Legislative Assembly and lost by 12575 votes.

In 1991, he contested as Congress (INC) candidate lost to T K Ramakrishnan (CPM) in Kottayam Kerala Assembly Election by a mere 2682 votes.

He resides at Trivandrum. He belongs to Kadavana branch of Pakalomattom Ayrookuzhiyil, a famous Suriyani Christian family of Kerala.
