Chennur is a village in Gudur mandal in Nellore district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

As of 2001 India census[1], Chennur had a population of 9,303. Males constitute 50% of the population. Chennur has an average literacy rate of 47%.

The mica belt around Chennur is considered the 2nd biggest in the country. The mica deposits are located around chennur of gudur, Rapur and Atmakur mandals of the Nellore district. The muscovite, quartz, feldspar and vermiculite forms of mica are found around this area.
The lemon business has become one of the most successful business in Chennur. Lemons are provided to almost all parts of the Country and also exported to other countries.
Chennur is also surrounded by good agricultural fields and with aquaculture (prawn) production for different parts of India as well as export to other countries.

Chennur is very hot in summer. The Village is quite frequently affected by cyclones and has an almost non existent winter. The best season is October to March.

Chennur is located 7 k.m far from National Highway 5. This reduced the travel time to Chennai and Nellore. The roads are though not wide but easily transpostable, mainly beacuse there is a short cout to tirupati via chennur. There are state wise political leaders residing in chennur, this also made the chennur to develop its infrastructure.

Gudur is a nearest railway junction to Chennur, located between Chennai and Vijayawada, Connects Tirupathi.

Chennai airport is the nearest major domestic/International airport. There is another small domestic airport located in Renigunta.

Yellasiri Srinivasulu Reddy a.k.a Y.S.R Ex- M.L.A, Ex- Z.P Chairman, Ex- Telugudesam party president Nellore (Dt) and Ex- Secretary State Telugudesam party belongs to Chennur. He added special image to Chennur (Vi). He came from a very middle class family and become M.L.A to Rapur constituency.
Chadalawada Venkateswarlu & his brother Chadalavada Krishanmurthi Ex-M.L.A of Tirupathi were born and brought up in chennur. Both were business people turned politician; helped needy.
The other important personalities are Chevuru Vijayamohan Reddy and Guduru Rajeswara Reddy. These two leaders have won the peoples hearts with their philanthropy and charity.
Parvathareddy Srinivasulu Reddy, a kind hearted guy is the current rural congress party president and hails from chennur. He is also known for his charity and has got good name in the society.
Alluru Chandrasekhar Reddy (Motor vechicle Inspector) ,Vuggumudi Sunanda kumar Reddy (Doctor) and Alluru Radhakrishna Reddy(Contractor) have won the peoples hearts with their helping nature. These guys are absolutely great as many of the villagers from chennur seek help and benefit from them.
