Traditional Chinese: 程遠志
Simplified Chinese: 程远志

In the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong, Cheng Yuanzhi was a high ranking Yellow Turban officer[1]. Cheng Yuanzhi, along with Deng Mao, led a force of 50,000 rebels against Han imperial forces. The force was opposed by just 500 volunteers led by Liu Bei, and his sworn brothers Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Liu Bei taunted the Yellow Turbans, so Cheng Yuanzhi sent his warrior Deng Mao give battle. Liu Bei sent out Zhang Fei to meet him, and after one blow the Yellow Turban warrior was killed. Cheng Yuanzhi, furious, rode out to do battle with Zhang Fei. Guan Yu, however, met him mid-way and felled him in one stroke. The Yellow Turban army, leaderless, fled the field.
