Taipei Municipal Chenggong Senior High School (CGSH or CKSH, Hanyu Pinyin and Tongyong Pinyin: Taipei Municipal Chenggong Senior High School, Traditional Chinese: 台北市立成功高级中學) is a senior high school in Taipei, Taiwan.

Founded in 1922, the school was formerly called the Taipei (Pronounced Tai-bay) Prefectural Second Middle School and then briefly called Taipei Second Middle School. It moved from the Bodhidharma temple to the present site in 1925, and was intended for the enrollment of Taiwanese students. In 1946, the following year of the Allies victory over Japan in World War II and restoration of Taiwan to the Republic of China, the school was renamed the Taiwan Provincial Taipei Cheng Kung High School in memory of the national hero, Tseng Cheng-kung for his resistance to foreign invaders. In 1955, the school was ordered to disperse, and set up a branch school in Tao Yuan, which was later expanded in "the Joint Tao Yuan Branch School of the Five Provincial Taipei High School." It became independent and was renamed the Taiwan Provincial Wu-Ling High School in 1959. In the autumn of 1967, Taipei City came under the direct control of the Executive Yuan. This school was finally given the present name, Taipei Municipal Cheng Gong Senior High School.

By order of the government, the school began to have evening sessions in 1953, which stopped enrolling new students in 1981. The evening sessions terminated two years later after the final students in the programme graduated.

Cheng Gong Senior High is situated in the city centre where government offices and other organisational institutions abound. Covering a campus of 20,000 square meters, it comes complete with all the necessary facilities. To actively promote science education and introduce current scientific and technological information, the school is equipped specifically with a variety of experimental facilities so that the students may raise their interest in scientific research and extend their scientific knowledge.

The school's administration believes that the final goal of education is the betterment of our society. Science education aims at helping students to build up the habit of quick observation, careful induction and persistence in experiments before teaching a conclusion. The school emphasizes cultural and social science education and works to help foster a constructive philosophy of life to serve people and dedicate themselves to the society. The school tries to guide graduates to higher education, and help students to make wise choices concerning their future studies.

The guidance programs are set up by the guidance committee and carried out by the teachers and the counselors. In this school, there is one chief guidance counselor and four guidance teachers. The objectives of the guidance services are to improve the students' psychological health and to adjust them well in the learning and living environment so that the students can reach their full potential.

Through guiding and assisting students, the school can help solve the problems of students in human and psychological ways, assisting them to properly develop their freedom of the will. The school has various school clubs so students can develop their potential and help raise their quality of life. The school often holds some friendly matches and contests to apply their learning to recreational activities and promote their health bath on mind and body. Therefore, students learn to develop abilities such as intelligence,morality, physical fitness, team work, and esthetics in a well-balanced development.

[edit] Rate of admission to colleges or universities

Graduates of the school take the Joint College Entrance Examination and usually end up with above average results. They usually end up entering college departments ranging from law to electric engineering and medicine. The rates of admission to colleges and universities are above 96%. Every year dozens of graduates is recommended and finally admitted to colleges or universities.

The 57 clubs on campus can be separated into categories such as academics, skills and talents, physical training, recreation, leisure activities, and school teams.

The school features completely autonomous student organizations, such as the class Union, which is in charge of pushing forward self-governing activities in school. The Students' Representatives' Union works to promote interschool exchanges. The Club Union assumes responsibility for performances and competitions outside school.
