Chenab College (Jhang), one of the popular schools in Jhang today, it was established on a self help basis in the year 1991 to provide quality education. It was built by the efforts of 'The Jhang Association' and Dr. Abdus Salam, a noble laureate born in jhang, and the then D.C. Athar Tahir. The first Principal was Mr. Zahir Kazim Siddiqui, a popular educationist from Karachi. However, within a year of its birth the D.C. was transferred and the new one was quite interested in the college's affairs (probably due to the amount of money involved) which finally lead to the principal resigning (he went on to make his own school called 'Oriel School'). These early clashes lead to a slower progress than expected, however the college soon became a leading institution in the city.
