CHEMBAKUR is a town in Chittoor district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
Chembakur is famous for its agriculture. This place has produced many engineers, scientists, doctors who have made significant contributions to the country's economy and growth.

As of 2001 India census[2], chembakur had a population of 10,849. Males constitute 58% of the population and females 42%. chembakur has an average literacy rate of 58%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 50%. In chembakur, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

chembakur has a very well managed Agricultural Produce Market near 20KM. Auctions are held every Saturday. Farmers from nearby Taluks, Villages their agricultural assets to the market for auction.
Tomoto and Mango traders from the chembakur market were known to have catered to the demand for these all over the State in the past.

Back in history chembakur was a part of Shanbulinga Puram.
Now Shanbulinga Puram is a Village about 50 miles north east of chembakur in Chittoor District.. The history of the village dates back to 18th century.The village was built by experienced architects of that period.
Chembakur was a very prosperous village. Before 19th century the village was part of some King's domain. Since it was a border village of state, is built a strong fort all round the village.
Even today we can see the remnants of it.

Modern chembakur grew rapidly after Indian Independence in 1947.
