"Chelsea Dagger" is a song by The Fratellis and their second single. It was released on August 28, 2006. It is taken from their debut album Costello Music, which was released in the UK on September 11, 2006. It's supposed to be named after Jon Fratelli's wife Heather, a burlesque dancer whose stage name he borrowed for the song. The song also appears in the trailer for the movies Run, Fat Boy, Run, Shrek The Third, Knocked Up, and The Game Plan, as well as the television commercials for Balls of Fury and Open Season. It is also used for the supermarket chain Vons. This song was #77 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.[1] It was voted #59 on Australian Radio Triple J's National Hottest 100 2007 countdown on January 26, 2008.

The song became their first significant chart hit in the UK, peaking at #5 and becoming their first Top 10 hit. This surprised the band weren't going to release the song as they thought it might be too risqué to do well.

It is the theme song of the 2006 Serious Request project on 3FM (The Netherlands). In the night of Saturday 23 to Sunday 24 December 2006 the song was massively requested and played six times within a four hour time span.

Characterised by its anthemic, scat sung chorus, which repeats the line "Duh duh duh", it has been adopted on many football terraces as a crowd favourite (see below).

It was produced by Tony Hoffer, the highly-acclaimed American record producer famous for his work with the likes of Beck, Kooks and Supergrass.

This song was played when Shunsuke Nakamura scored from a free-kick for Celtic Football Club in their 1-0 win over Manchester United on November 21, 2006 and was also played during Celtic's SPL Celebrations after beating Kilmarnock FC 2-1. When Celtic score at home, the song's chorus is played. The Fratellis claimed on Soccer AM that this was a great honour and they hadn't known for a while as they were too excited with the goal. It was also played during Scotland's recent win over Georgia at Hampden Park much to the delight of the Scottish fans. It is played when Ipswich Town, MK Dons, Rotherham United, Preston North End,Bristol City, Plymouth Argyle, Northampton Town F.C., Coventry City F.C., Leicester City F.C. and Middlesbrough F.C. score a goal and when Salford City Reds and Wigan Warriors score a try. At every Aston Villa match at Villa Park, and also at every Coventry City F.C. match at the Ricoh Arena Chelsea Dagger is played a couple of minutes before the teams come out, leading to a warm, adrenalin filled atmosphere. It was also played after Craig Gardner scored against Arsenal, but the idea was disputed by fans due to the sense of 'small-time' when a song is played after a goal. The song was played at the Football League Cup Final 2007 as Chelsea lifted the trophy. It can now be regularly heard at Stamford Bridge and has quickly become a favorite among the fans. It was played when Bristol Rovers lifted the League Two Play off final trophy. It is also played at Easter Road when Hibernian FC score, it was played after the CIS Insurance Cup Final 2007 at Hampden Park after Hibs beat Kilmarnock 5 - 1. The song was played when Sevilla lifted the UEFA Cup at Hampden Park after a penalty shootout win over Espanyol on May 16, 2007, and also when Doncaster Rovers defeated Bristol Rovers 3-2 at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium as Doncaster were presented with the silverware after winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The song was also played during the second day of the 2007 World Series of Football. As the new football season 2007-2008 started in Belgium, the song is played with every goal Cercle Brugge K.S.V. scores at home. It is often sung by University Blacks football club when the lid is officially removed. It starts with a slow beat before the Charcoal master annonces "The Lid's Off". Raucous chanting ensues. It has also been played when Super 14 rugby union team the Canterbury Crusaders score a try at home. Beginning in the 2008 season, Toronto FC use the song during their pre-game introduction video, prior to announcing the home line-ups.

The song has also been adopted by Sydney FC fans, after it was played during a rain interuption during the 2006/07 A-League final series against the Queensland Roar, and will be played pre-game during the next season.
