Cheiry is a municipality in the district of Broye in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.
It was first recorded in 1184 as Chirie.
The municipality had 241 inhabitants in 1811, which increased to 298 in 1850 and 303 in 1880. It then fell, to 266 in 1900 and 219 in 1930. It then went up and down to 242 in 1950, 186 in 1980 and 267 in 2000. Its territory was enlarged in 2005 with the formerly independent municipality Chapelle.
