IMDb profile

Cheese and Jam / Cottage cheese and marmalade (Slovenian: Kajmak in marmelada) is a comedy about the relationship between a Bosnian man and a Slovenian woman, though the film begins with an explanation about it not being about a Slovenian girl and a Bosnian man, since every nation has its stigmatized minority.

The story takes place in Slovenia, a mixed relationship (Bosnian-Slovenian) is going up and down.

Božo (Branko Đurić), the beer-drinking, football-watching, jobless guy from Bosnia.

Špela (Tanja Ribič), his Slovenian girlfriend who loves him, but after some fights decides to leave.

Goran (Dragan Bjelogrlić), Božo's Serb criminal friend who offers Božo jobs.

After Špela leaves Božo and moves back to her parents, he asks his friend Goran for help and gets a job as a Mickey Mouse impersonator at a local fair. A chance meeting with Špela leaves her less than impressed due to the simplicity of the job. Reluctantly, Božo accepts Goran's offer for a not completely legal job, which turns out to be people smuggling. After deceiving his boss, Goran is beaten, but him and Božo are offered a second chance: together with tow thugs, they are supposed to intimidate an innkeeper who stopped paying protection money. Incidently, Špela is also there, celebrating her father's birthday...

125,000 saw the film on its release on Slovenian cinemas and it is currently the Slovenian record.

Branko Đurić won Grand Golden Roll for the film.

Branko Đurić is a real life husband of Tanja Ribič. The role of Božo and Špela's daughter is also played by their dauther, Zala Đurić-Ribič.
