Checkpost (India)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Checkposts are an institutionalised Indian government variant of checkpoints: small cabins or shacks, generally made from wood and now from steel, manned by police or other government officials.

The checkpost is used by government officials for the collection of taxes on goods, or on vehicles entering from one region to another. Indian Police Service checkposts are built to track criminals and monitor and/or prevent crime. Normally checkposts are built at all district and state borders in India.
