[edit] Assistance

Would i be able to help out in being a Wikipedia:Changing username/Assistance, i use to be Dust Rider but recently got renaimed to Terra if i'm able to i'll read the instructions and place myself on the Active user's but as (semi-active).  Terra  Talk  13:28, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

There are no restrictions on who can become a clerk. It is requested that you know what you are doing, and what comments are helpful and need to be made. I suggest reading this page, and the CHU and CHU/U pages themselves to see what kinds of comments need to be made, and then go right ahead. seresin | wasn't he just...? 14:39, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Too many clerknotes

Guys, I'm very grateful to everyone who helps out here, but the average number of clerknotes is ballooning out of proportion. Too many clerknotes creates problems - it must be confusing for those checking on the status of the request, and frankly its pretty unhelpful for the bureaucrat dealing with the request to have to look through an entire debate. Can I please ask:

  1. Try and make your comments comprehensive - think about all the issues with the request. That saves other clerks overlaying there own comments.
There have been a couple of occasions when I have had notes discussing the lack of a reason, the fact that request has been reformated but no one seemed to have noticed the target account was taken anyway...
  2. It really doesn't need a debate - I don't need the clerks to agree. Just flag up what might be issues with a request and make a decision. At some point, your discussion needs to move to your talkpage to stop cluttering the page.
  3. Only leave notes if you have to. I'm grateful to those who fix the formatting, but it doesn't need yet another note to say you have done so. Trust me, your work won't go unnoticed.

Sorry this message has rather a negative tone. It is great that you're all helping out, I just wanted to nip what seems to be a growing problem in the bud. WjBscribe 15:04, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Box addition to new requests

Hi there, I have added a new link when requesting a username change.

This shows my edit to the main page link, as I have created Wikipedia:Changing_username/editintro and when you click on the link to request a username change, Wikipedia:Changing_username/editintro will show up at the top of the page.

I hope nobody minds!

[edit] doppelganger usurpation request

I would like to create a doppleganger account at User:Piotr Konieczny (my real name) to prevent possible future usurpation. I cannot create that account as I am getting 'account exists' error, yet this account has no edits (see Piotr Konieczny (talk · contribs). Could it be deleted, so I could register it? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:53, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

You're going to need to file a request for account usurpation for that. There are full instructions on that page, as well as links to the guidelines and criterion for usurpation. If you have any queries regarding filing the request, please feel free to let a clerk or bureaucrat know.

It is my understanding that usurpation is for name changes. I don't want to change the name of my current account, but to create a doppleganger sock. I just wanted to make sure that by filling a request my current account name (Piotrus) will not be affected.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:18, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Small query

I recently unified my account name on a dozen or so wikis as User:Pippu d'Angelo, the only trouble is that because of a quirk of history I edited in en.wiki as User:Pippu d'angelo (I'm a bureaucrat on scn.wiki, but my 2nd highest edit count is in en.wiki). It would have been easy to do the name change, the only trouble is that I had already created the other one in en.wiki to save it. Is there any way I can transfer all of my User:Pippu d'angelo edit history to User:Pippu d'Angelo? If it's too complicated let me know, and I will simply keep going with my new one, and basically forsake my previous 4,000 edits. Cheers. πιππίνυ δ - (dica) 06:02, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I've taken care of this for you. In order to do it I had to delete your global SUL account, so please merge all your accounts again as soon as possible. — Dan | talk 17:05, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
